CLASSIFICATION

The HHC will determine whether your application is within the jurisdiction of the Commission.  If not, the Commission will issue you a Certificate of Non-Applicability, and you may begin your work immediately.

If the your project is within the jurisdiction of the Commission, the Commission will then determine whether the project is sufficiently substantial as to require a public hearing.

If the proposed work is a substantial change,  and a legal notice will be published in the local newspaper and a letter will be mailed to the residents of the historic district in addition to the Town Clerk, Building Inspector and Planning Board, that a hearing will be held at the next HHC meeting. The notification will be at least 14 days before the hearing.

If the proposed work is not a substantial change, then your project will be reviewed at the next HHC meeting as part of their standard agenda. A public hearing will not be held. All abutters and residents of the historic district will be notified by letter of the decision at least 10 days before the meeting to inform them of the review. You will be billed for the published legal notice.
